The death of Norbert Napoleon Pendergast took place at Surry Hills, Sydney, rather suddenly on Thursday morning of last week, at the age of 52 years and 11 months. The late Norbert Pendergast was the youngest son of the late James & Susannah Pendergast, of Pitt Town Road, and was born in the cottage where he had resided for several years up to within a few weeks of his death. He had two brothers, viz. John (who lives on Pitt Town Road), and George, who had not been in the district for 20 years until the day of the funeral. The subject of this notice married a widow, Mrs Green a daughter of the late Mrs. Wood, of Sackville, who with a family of 6 children survive him. In early life the late Norbert Pendergast was an active and brilliant youth. He joined the Railway Department and held a position as clerk for a number of years. On leaving the railway department he received the appointment of clerk to the Borough of Windsor. For a number of years he occupied that position. He afterwards took up farming pursuits on the old homestead. The properties at Pitt Town Road and Pitt Town Bottoms were recently for sale by auction, the latter being sold. With his wife and family he went to Surry Hills, where Mrs Pendergast has a boarding house. The subject of this notice could recount some very interesting stories of life in Windsor some years back. He was of jovial disposition and everybody liked good Norb. Pender. The remains were brought to Windsor on Friday last, and interred in the RC Cemetery. Rev. Father McDonnell officiated at the grave and Mr Chandler was the undertaker.
